Since 2012

The THALIS II service is a continuation of the THALIS I (2012-2015) and THALIS II (2018-2020) programs, which were held by the Department of Political Science and International Relations of the University of Peloponnese in collaboration with HIGGS.

The first implementation of the evaluation process was financed by European funds, while during the second implementation (2018-2020) of the project was financed by private funds, specifically by the Public Beneficial Foundations: Stavros Niarchos Foundation, TIMA Nonprofit Foundation, Ioannis S. Latsis Nonprofit Foundation, Captain Vassilis & Carmen Konstantakopoulou and the Athanasiou K. Laskaridis Foundation.

Principal Objectives

With these objectives, the THALIS II service aims to contribute to the strengthening, development and continuous improvement of the organised Civil Society (CSO) sector in Greece, by promoting the transparency and performance of CSO’s activities in order to achieve the maximum possible social and environmental impact.

Establishment of a CSO evaluation institution

Through the continuous evaluation of the work of CSOs at regular intervals, we aim to develop the evaluation process into an institution. The development will further strengthen the CSO's incentives to continuously improve their internal organisation and operation, with the main objective of increasing their efficiency, transparency and accountability

Improvement of the CSOs Credibility

The aim of HIGGS is to utilise the results of the evaluation survey by exploring the possibilities of improving the credibility of CSOs in Greece in order to strengthen the trust of Greek society towards CSOs as well as the trust of potential funders.

Promoting Volunteering and Solidarity

Throughout this evaluation process and based on its results, HIGGS aims to promote volunteering and encourage the undertaking organised solidarity initiatives, highlighting the dynamic and multidimensional presence of CSOs in Greece.
